Another book by the amazing author R. L. Stine. This books is about a dummy two girls find in a dumpster while walking home from school. One girl names the dummy Slappy. She starts becoming popular with her ventriloquism and starts getting paid to do parties. Her sister goes out to get a dummy of her own and names him Mr. Wood. Mr. Wood appeared to be alive by being found by the girls while doing things like choking Slappy and moving things around. He starts making rude comments to people to get the girls in trouble because people think it is the girls talking. Eventually, the dummy tells the girls that they are now his slaves. This frightens the girls and they throw him under a steam roller to finally get rid of him. Upon returning to their home, Slappy talks to the girls, making sure the other dummy is gone. I would use this around Halloween to read to the students near the end of the day or for the students to use during quiet reading time.

This is one of the many crazy book of the amazing author R. L. Stine. In this book, the two main characters named Brooke and Zeke audition for a play in their school known as "The Phantom". They both get the two leading roles. Rumors start going around that a boy who was supposed to play the phantom many years prior had disappeared and was never found. The legend says that whenever their school does this play, the Phantom appears to ruin the play. As the story progresses and they get ready for the play, things on the set start to mess up and become ruined. A trap door is found in the middle of the stage that appears to be broken but is said the be fixed by the time the production is said to start. Brooke and Zeke sneak down the trapdoor and find hidden rooms underneath the school. A night janitor, who does not actually work for the school, runs them off. The next day a new boy named Brian shows up in their class and wants to be in the play. All the roles are taken so he helps on the stage. The production starts and Brooke is shocked to find the phantom is not Zeke but the actual Phantom, who disappears when Brooke is blinded by a stage light. After the performance, Brooke and Zeke find a year book from 72 years ago that shows who played the original Phantom, only to discover it was their new classmate Brian. I would use this book around Halloween to read to the class and for quiet reading in the classroom. This is also a great chapter book for higher grades.

This is a book I used to read to my sister when she was little. Littlest Pet Shop was a brand of small toys that extended to being coloring books, scholastic books, and even some video games. This book is about some of the animals having special talents, like playing music and being a magician to being able to walk across a tightrope and juggle. I would use this book specifically for quiet reading time.

This is a wonderful little book about a stuffed bear who wanted to be picked up from the toy store he was in. One day, a little girl wanted to buy him but her mother would not let her because he was missing a button. That night after everyone left, Corduroy the bear left his store in the mall to find his button. The security guard found him and returned him back to the toy store. The next day the girl comes back to buy him and take him to her home. There she sews on a button to his overalls and takes care of him. I would use this in my classroom for quiet reading time or to help teach acceptance.
